Team Gushue won the Olympic trials earlier this year and came in a disappointing 3rd at the Olympics. This should be make the playoffs but will probably be running out of steam.
Kevin Koe is always a threat to win these, but I am predicting this team is about to break up after this event is over. 2nd in Pool A
Team Jacobs lost a close game to Wild Card #1 in the Olympic trials final. Should be in the top 2 in Pool B
This team lost in the pre-trials earlier this year, but were able to beat John Epping in the Ontario playdowns and did surprisingly well at the Brier last year. Anywhere between 2nd and 5th in Pool A
This team could be on the downswing after losing the Brier semi final last year, only winning one game at the Olympic trials, and not winning the Sask playdowns. 4th or 5th in Pool A
This team has lots of promise but doesn't seem to deliver, winning games early on then going on a losing streak. It will be between them and Wild Card #3 on who will get the last playoff spot in Pool B
Same as above. 3rd or 4th in Pool B
A rookie team from Saskatchewan, let by Kevin Koe's old second. Rookie teams tend to not do well, between 4th and 6th in Pool A.
The biggest curling story of the year was Brendan Bottcher kicking out their third Darren Moulding from the team. Moulding now plays for New Brunswick. Canada will lose to New Brunswick, but will still make the playoffs in Pool A.
A middling team at best. between 5th and 8th in Pool B.
Even though I think they will beat team Canada, I don't see them getting above 5th.
Another Rookie team. 5th to 8th
Paul Flemming has been around forever, hasn't won much. 6th or 7th in Pool B
This team can take out a few of the top teams. 4th to 7th in Pool B
And another Rookie team. 7th ot 8th in Pool A
Not a huge threat without Gushue coming from this province. 8th in Pool A
More people will compete at the Brier than actually live in Nunavut. Woops, I already made that joke. Last in Pool B
A young team from the Yukon, has potential, but still won't win a game. Last in Pool A
